Data Collection Automation

Problem
National Technical Systems (Nasdaq:NTSC) an engineering and testing company provides testing and certification services to the technology marketplace. NTS wanted to automate test data collection with an ambitious goal of increased client responsiveness, report accuracy, and workflow efficiency. UNIX SPARC vibration controllers were being used company wide to perform vibration tests and capture vibration data. The vibration data (plots) were being manually converted through a copying or scanning process for inclusion in the test reports which were then submitted both in hardcopy and electronically to the customer base.

Solution
CABEM designed, scripted and implemented an automated conversion application for the UNIX machines. We installed at NTS preconfigured Linux data servers with redundant storage and a mysql database to house the data, we developed a web based user interface (UI) to manage and access the information and deployed the solution via a wireless network. The bottom line: faster reporting, less labor and greater accuracy.
